Students React to Postponement of CBSE 2020 Exams

  • Mar 23,2020

The news of the CBSE, ICSE exams postponement till March 31, has generated a mixed response from students, most of whom have only one or two papers left.

Class 12th student Ravindra Rajput says that although he is a little upset at the exams being postponed, he’s happy in the fact that he will now have more time to prepare for JEE. As the JEE exam is also rescheduled to avoid the overlap between CBSE & JEE Exam.

Class 12 student Manali Sharma, who only had her Business Studies paper left, says that she is not happy with exams being postponed as delayed exams mean that students cannot relax as they will always have the lingering thought of that one remaining exam.

Wellness vs Exams

While most students are anxious about having to study for a longer period, some feel that wellness is more important. Class XII Student Neha Gada, who too has only one exam left, said although other vacation plans were canceled, it is more important to focus on the wellness of students and teachers.

Performance Stress Increased

But for those whose exams are over, the fear of prolonged results is only adding to the already-existing sense of performance stress.

“Due to this delay, I am facing performance stress. And the more time passes, my fear of not getting a good score is increasing,” says Prasad Joshi, who’s done with his class X CBSE Exams.

Parents' Opinion

While students remain worried about delayed exams and its consequences on their plans, parents are slightly relaxed.

“Considering the situations, It's the right decision. Social Distancing is important and there's no other option. Yes, there is a lot of uncertainty now. But I think the situation will be clear in the next two weeks and every one of us should follow the government's advice & decisions,” said Rajesh Verma, parent of a Class XII CBSE student.
