As per the announcement made by Higher Education Minister Uday Samant, Maharashtra Government has decided to postpone MHT CET 2020 exam until further notice. Keeping in mind the rising number of COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra, the decision to postpone MHT CET 2020 along with other state-level CETs was taken.
On 22nd June 2020, Higher and Technical Education Minister Uday Samant announced that all state-level entrance exams that are held under the aegis of the Department of Higher Education and Technical Education are postponed until further notice. He also added that the department was evaluating the Coronavirus pandemic situation in the state and will announce revised examination dates soon. MHT CET 2020 Revised Exam Dates will be announced online on the official exam portal i.e. mhtcet.org.
Exams Postponed Due to Students, Parents Concerns
Since the last few weeks, MHT-CET students and their parents have been urging the state government to postpone the exam in the view of widespread Coronavirus infection in the state. Maharashtra is one of the worst-hit states in India due to the COVID-19 pandemic with Mumbai being the epicenter of the disease. In such times, holding state-level entrance exams to screen students would not be possible without exposing candidates to the risk of contracting the virus while appearing for the exam. Taking this view the Higher Education Department of Maharashtra Government has decided to postpone the state-level entrance exams.
New Dates to be Notified Later
The Education Minister has not shared any specific revised dates for the entrance exams. Earlier, MHT CET 2020 was to be held in April 2020 but was postponed in the light of the COVID-19 outbreak. Later on, State CET Cell decided to conduct the exam in July and August 2020, but that decision has again been changed and students will now have to wait until revised examination dates are announced by the CET Cell.
